Hopefully, you actually noticed that you did not get your Nov.- Dec. Spotter for 2006. Fortunately, you were too well-mannered not to call me to find out where it was! It actually did get written in early December but with a short list of holiday snafu’s, it did not get out by the new year and we made an executive decision to deliver it with this first one of the new year, to make it a little easier for our gracious deliverers. Please take the time to read both of them because there are several things we would like you to respond to in the earlier one.
Anyway, happy new year! Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Puxatawny Phil was right and we only have a couple more weeks of winter? Wow!
As you will note in the previous, the save dates for May are the 12th, which is our neighborhood garage sale, and the 19th, which is our biennial House and Garden Tour.
Tina Versaci is, again, the point person for the former and Sally Quinn is chairing the committee for the Tour, hopefully with the help of Marie Gorman, who knows everything there is to know about running successful events.
We still need more houses and gardens so please email or call Sally.
We have already been talking it up and people are excited about coming. Just, please, pray for a dry day this year!!! Sally will be hosting the first planning meeting in late February and if you would be willing to be on the committee or help, in any way, please contact her.
We still don’t have a venue for our spring social, though that is not surprising since we put out the begging word in the issue that did not get out to neighbors. If you’d like to host, the board will make it a really easy experience for you! This is one of the things our dues support and it is always a good time.
As you are no doubt aware, the City is planning a comprehensive reassessment for the whole city this year. It would be really terrific (and a real surprise!) if we actually had a little tax reduction in the Plot, as we were one of the few neighborhoods which enjoyed (?) an interim reassessment. It probably put us above most of the other areas, even if all things were equal. At any rate, you can go to the city’s information website at:
www.cityofschenectady.com/reassessment.htm
There you will find all the information you might want, concerning the process. Other information can be sourced through the Schenectady County Public Library at:
